Apple Media Event at Yerba Buena Center

Right, off we go ! Today i will speak about the launching of  the new iPad.

This is the third generation of iPad and in my opinion it's the biggest leap since the original iPad.

The new iPad will be powered up by a dualcore Apple A5x chip along the quad-core GPU and 1GB of RAM, which apple claims is much more powerful than an Xbox 360 / Playstation 3.






Tim Cook took the stage today and presented us with the new Apple TV but what we loved to see was the new iPad. As we expected the retina display took it's place into the iPad aswell with a 2048-by-1536-pixel resolution at 264 pixels per inch (ppi) which is supposed to be more crisp than a 40" HD TV .

 

 What i think was odd , the iSight camera which was available only on the macbooks and imacs.
The iSight camera on the iPad is a 5 - megapixel camera with autofocus and video stabilization capable of capturing full 1080p 30fps videos, which is extraordinary for a tablet and i think it's the only tablet on the market which offers full 1080p record & playback.

The thing is, and it's logic if you think about it, they call it iSight because it's just a rear-camera, when the front-camera still remains as a Facetime camera.

Another expected and interesting thing is the 4G LTE capability that can perform way faster than a normal 3G network but unfortunately an LTE network is not available in most countries.

Now , lets see why they call it " The new iPad ", after all , in 6 months it won't be new at all, and you'll have to choose between an iPad and an iPad 2 ( as iPad 2 is still available ).

The thing is, as with the iPhone , they had naming issues. The first iphone was called simply iPhone, and the second generation was called iPhone 3G because it had 3G capabilities. Now with the iPhone 3gs they had to keep the numbering system because it was the 3rd generation , using iOS 3, so that the 4th generation using iOS 4 was named iPhone 4. Now you are probably wondering, why they named the next iPhone, iPhone 4S but i'll get to that soon enough.

If you recall the iPod never had a numbering system. It was always the iPod ( touch/nano/classic ), as the Macbook was always macbook, and iMac was always iMac.
So what they want to do ? Well they want to do that with the iPad and the iPhone as well, and now you understand why they named it iPhone 4S.
So the next iPhone will be simply iPhone, and the next iPad aswell.
How do we identify them when considering to buy from ebay? By year of production.

 So to sum up we've got the new iPad available from the 16th of march at the same price the iPad 2 was last year. I hope you enjoyed my presentation and looking further to read my blog.
